    ridgeline tension

I understand how to eyeball ridgeline tension with Brandon's line bending idea. Almost able to bend to 90 degrees. Is this when you are laying at the diagonal? When I lay at the diagonal, the ridgeline bends to 90, but if I lay straight down the middle, it increases to the point were I can't bend it at all. Am I doing it right by measuring when I am at the diagonal? Thanks. BTW, this hammock is awesome.

Base it on the way you will be laying in the hammock for sleeping For most that will be on the diagonal. Laying strait changes the way the hammock body is tensioned and will change the ridgeline. The suggestions for how taut the ridgeline should be are recommendations, take them as such and experiment with what feels best to you....I like my ridgeline pretty tight, just feels best to me that way.

I too prefer my blackbird ridge line pretty tight. For me, I'd the a 45 degree bend while I'm laying on the diagnal has treated me wellmy 15 nights or so in it are still not enough to have it completely dialed in though. So this is what has worked for me so far. It may change.

I'd go for the way you lay in it when you sleep

After asking this question and reviewing the videos I find little differance in the lay, that said I shoot for the 90 deg bend while laying on the diag. though I have slept quite well with the ridge ridgeline about 2 inches off my chest, and bow string tight both slept well. As THEY say Hang Your Own Hammock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe in Brandon's video he is laying on the diag when he does the RL test.
I find this amount of sag best. When I hang my wbbb the RL is sagging ~4" and when I get in the I can get the 90 degree bend.

    Thank you

I also had a difficult time adjusting the ridgeline tension at first. The information in this post help me better understand what I needed to tweak. Thanks

Trying to get that ridgeline "perfect" use to drive me crazy. Now I just string up the hammock, eyeball it, make any adjustments needed and get in. I stopped checking the ridgeline tension as it made me worry too much that I did not have it set up correctly. I figured that if I was comfortable when I got in the hammock then I was good to go.
