    Rolling / folding tree straps

Does anyone have a quick method for that ? It always takes me ages.

    Specifically Kevlar straps...

My approach is to draw the strap out to length, hold the ends together, then keep folding it in half until it is compact. I keep an elastic hair tie with each strap to hold it bunched together. I agree that rolling takes too long. Folding is much speedier.

This is how I do it too, except when small enough I stuff them in the sack they came in to contain them. This is the fastest method I've found.

I roll. Then just flip for unrolling.

I use only Kevlar. And I am really anal with storing stuff so I always roll it. I put the loop over my index finger and wrap the strap around four fingers. I've tried folding in half, and in half again, and again, but there is no time savings to be found. I have toggles on the end of the strap, attached with 1/16" shock cord so once the strap is rolled up I turn the shock cord over the bundle to hold it in place. Takes a few minutes, but I'm not in a rush.

I make the "hang loose" sign with my hand and figure 8 the strap around my thumb and index. It is very speedy and I have yet to get a tangle.

I found this video. He demonstrates it perfectly.

I keep my straps in a dedicated bag and just stuff them in there. At home I store them hanging.
    Good luck,

Sounds like a nice system. Would you take a picture ?

I use two sets; an eight foot set with a carbon fiber toggle for my hammock chair suspension and a six foot set for the hammock with an alu shepard's hook stake for a toggle...

Keep them in a roll with all the suspension kit..

straps, six foot amsteel leader, CRL (the LA has been replaced with a Dutch wasp), extra six foot reflective cord.. I carry the long stakes depending on where I am going and the season. Usually six mini gound hogs and two Ti shepard's stakes.

Impressive. I am surprised you need only 6 foot straps for your hammock. I was thinking of ordering 15' straps !
