Sleeping Bag Recommendation

I'm in the market for a new sleeping bag, and while I should probably buy two I am trying to get everything I want with just one bag.

Having just picked up a WBBB I'm not sold on hammock camping just yet, so I hate to dive in and spend the cash on a dedicated TQ and UQ. However, I am in the need for a new sleeping bag for car camping and hunting trips, so I'd like to go the "sleeping bag for a TQ approach" for my hammock.

I'm 6'2", so I'd likely need a long size bag.

Temps range from 30-60 F, although when car camping/hunting I have the ability to bring wool blankets for additional warmth.

I'm really not a fan of the mummy bags, especially with the hood. I like some room to move.

Weight is not a concern as I will not be backpacking with it, but I would like to start camping off my motorcycle, so size is. This has me thinking down would be best?

The ability to use as a TQ would be a major plus.

Finally, cheaper is better but if I only have to buy one once then the budget can be adjusted.

i'd check out a wide top quilt anyway, but if you really want a bag then i would look at big agnes

I have been using an old down mummy sleeping bag as a top quilt. I leave it part way zipped up for a foot box. I have used it to below freezing (with proper bottom insulation).

I know you are looking for a bag but for a good tq I use a therm-a-rest Tech blanket the large is 80x58 inches and packs down small

This may be a little redundant, but I think a top quilt would be a good option for you. They can offer room to move around and you won't have a pesky hood in your face. Just have it made wider so it works well on the ground. Most sleeping bags these days are mummy style. Down will get you less bulk, but it will also cost more.

Big Agnes Semi-mummy Down Bags have a lot of room.

The temp ratings were a little generous for me.

I have used it on the ground with their aircore pad and in my hammock as a TQ.

IMO, a pretty good dual purpose pieice of gear.

Lots of ground campers have gone to quilts for the same reason as hammockers. The compressed insulation under you is basically wasted so ground sleep on a good pad and let the quilt do what it does best.

I have had good luck with the Kelty Coromell 25F 550-fill Down Sleeping Bag, been using it both as a sleeping bag and a TQ, works equally well in either instance.
