    Hello from west Texas

I have been on the fence about getting a hammock for a few years now but I have decided to make the move and get a WBBB.
I fell off a roof in 2004 and crushed a vertebrae, and I cannot tent camp with out sleeping on about 4"s of foam which pretty much ends backpacking.
I am preparing for a long overdue 3-4 month trip into the Brooks Range in northern Alaska next spring so I will be asking a lot of questions here. Great place to hang out and soak up the knowledge you have here. Seb

Thank you for the welcome. I am presently working in Fort Davis ,Texas until the end of September. Then I may may go back to Florida or stay here and look for work until spring time, not sure yet.
I plan on asking a lot of questions about hammock camping. It looks like people are really getting it fine tuned.

Cool. You should be able to find some places to hang there in the Davis Mountains. And Big Bend isn't too far away.

What kind of work are you doing in Fort Davis?

No hanging in the Davis Mts. unless it is in the state park. All of the mountains are on private ranch land. I have gotten to go on the ranches while fighting wildfires. I am doing restoration work on the old Fort for the National Park Service.

    That is way cool.

I thought there were some hanging ops up around the observatory as well, but must Haney been mistaken.

Enjoy your time in Ft. Davis!
