First Hang: 2 nights in Grand Isle VT camping

I thought I'd tell those interested how my first hangs were.

I was in a nice camp site with a new Hennessy Hyperlite Classic Asym and slept my first night with just a sleeping bag inside the hammock. I woke up with frozen shoulders, lower back and buttocks. That with snoring neighbours I did not have a good night sleep at all. It was around 58F that night.

I started my second night better prepared. I had ear plugs and put a Thermarest mattress rated at 2.5 right in the hammock and my sleeping bag. I woke up because I was too hot. It was around 65F that night. I got rid of the sleeping bag and took just a small wool blanket instead and had the best night sleep in ages.

I'm definitely going to be hanging some more in the coming weeks.

Glad it worked out in the end for you. It takes some work getting your hammock system dialed in but well worth it in the end

Maybe the second night I'd relocate AWAY from the snoring neighbors, just a thought. There's a lot to be said for solo hiking.
The more you know, the less you carry.
