    Double Layer Question

I'm in the process of making a double layer hammock, with a bugnet. I'm trying to decide whether to have the opening between the layers for inserting a pad on the outside or inside of the zipper. Any advantages or disadvantages either way? I'm sandwiching the zipper between the layers, so I'm thinking it'll look cleaner if the opening is on the inside.

    Thanks,

    Rick

I think you'd want the opening on the inside also. That way you can reach in and shift it around if you need to.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Yup, I'm a proponent of the opening on the inside as well. If you have the opening on the outside, the bottom layer will hang down (especially when the weight of the pad is pushing the bottom layer down however much). You'll have an unblocked opening into the space between the layers and, unless you put something there like velcro or a snap to close the gap, it would be a great place for a breeze to sneak in and steal all of your warm air! Hope this makes sense... hard to describe without a picture.

Excellent points! Thank you for the feedback. The opening is now on the inside. Just need to get the bug netting on, and my homebrewed hammock and first DIY project will be done.

Definitely. Should be finished in the next day or two. So far it's super comfy.
