Man you guys keep coming at us with new gear who can keep up . So innovative and creative. Love to see the 7D and Cuben options. How does the 7D material compare to the M55 material in terms of weight and feel. I don't know much about 7D. Any ways I cant wait to get my M55 Sewn Through Burrow and M55 Summer Phoenix in the mail. So xited.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
That 7D is crazy light. It is also "fun" to work with. It is so wispy that I have to turn on off the air conditioning unit in the shop because the air currents move it around while I am trying to handle it. LOL. I really like the fabric but I think it works the best as an inner material. The M55 seems to be a little less breathable which is a plus for the outer shell.
I have chosen to only make the Burrow with both the inner AND outer shell in the 7D. While the 7D does have very low breathability and a great DWR finish to it, I think the M55 might edge it out as an outer shell material for an underquilt. I believe underquilts have more of a chance of being subjected to inclement weather. Tarp techniques and site selection go a long way towards keeping an underquilt out of nasty weather and there is a learning curve. So, I think the heavier M55 fabric (I use the term heavier loosely) might edge out the 7D for that purpose. Would I make an underquilt solely out of 7D material...absolutely...(you KNOW I did).
picked the cuben liner from the drop down but didn't see a choice for the other fabric for the outter??????
Help me Adam
Per the original post the Hybrid Phoenix in currently only offered with our stock 30D fabric (Olive Green or Black). However, if you want to get creative for the outer shell, of course I am up for it. Right now I only stock the 7d and more CF3 as an "exotic" fabric choice but people drop ship fabric from all over the place quite often. What do you have in mind?
Ooops, just caught your order number and your note.....pm me if you like
