Good to see this getting some traction. I am up for anything as far as hiking or boating. I am no an experienced boater but where I lack in experience I make up with swimming ability and wii to live.

    Looking forward to meeting everyone.

You all have to understand, that nothing is decided yet !

The pre planning was a rush job , i just needed something to show Grizz and Dutch.

We actually want to put in some more days/nights.
I just want to get hold of some maps.

Regarding our pace, It is as Joz says, you will beat us anyday !
Our mantra is NO HEADWIND, NO HEADWIND

    Another thing i see is:
The boat leaves Stockholm at 10, takes 3,5 hours .
Lets say we are about to leave Mariefred at 14.00.

Now i don't know the transportation/distance between Marifred and Åkerstyckebruk, but another hour to get to Åkerstyckebruk , 15.00 .
Another hour before everybody sits in their boats, 16.00.

First camp will be very close to Åkerstyckebruk

I know there is a shelter just south of the starting point, maybe we should aim for that ?

Another thing we have to think about is water sources !
Can you drink the water we paddle in ?
Or is't full of chemicals ?
Chemicals can be hard to remove by water filters.

    About hiking folks
I agree with Swede2378, i think it will be hard to do a joint adventure !
Let's present a paddling plan with the camping sites.
And then we see how many hikers we got.

I think the hikers must adjust a bit to where the water goes,
it's very difficult to do it the other way around

So, if the Curse doesn't claim to many this has to be record event ?

Bieggolmai has never missed a SKAHO !
So what do say about increasing his chances by naming this hang SKAHOi ?

I want to come, but I have to wait for vacation time allocations and that is not for a couple of months yet. If I get time off I will bring a sea kayak like last summer. Should work even better around Stockholm than in the mountainous ponds, hehe.

And I prefer Alive, or you guys will have to tow me around

It takes 20 minutes by bus from Mariefred to Åker. It takes another 15-20 to walk out to the canoe landning. The shelter you are talking about, after the second lift by Langåeden, is a perfect spot, I camp there often. It isn't very far, maybe 90 minutes from the landing in Åker. There is a water source, filtered mountain water, on the other side of the lake right where the shelter is. I can research other water sources on Sörmlandsleden. The water is definately filterable, there is alot of canoe traffic but no motor boats on the lakes. I cook my pasta in it, don't own a filter yet. I believe there is water at Laxne, but I'm a bit unsure, have to check it out.

    Summery of facts
(everything got a bit messy in the thread)

    MAP

    Date = 22 July - 25 July
    Time = 10.00
Place = Klara mälarstrand close to Stadshusbron. MAP

    We will back @ Stockholm C = 25 July @ 15.33

The 100yr old steam boat S/s Mariefred will take us to Marifred in 3.5 hours.
It will be possible to eat Lunch onboard at 12.00 (has to be booked in advance).

    Prices
    Boat ticket = 27 usd
    Nice lunch = 27 usd (Ångbåtsbiff/steamship beef ?)

    Mariefred
    We arrive here at 13.30

Here we have two options :
    1. Train (the train actually waits for the boat and takes 15min for 10 USD to Läggerst, thats leaves us with 3.5 km hiking/cab to the water ?)
    2. Buss
    local wisdom
It takes 20 minutes by bus from Mariefred to Åker. It takes another 15-20 to walk out to the canoe landning.
    Question to locals
Is it possible to walk under the freeway on the walk between Läggersta and Åkers Styckebruk ?

    Åkers Styckebruk
    We arrive here at 14.30

Here we will meet some locals
Swede2378 with family (They will all tag along to Gnesta)
Kanotkungen (To get the pre booked canoes/kayaks)

Canoes and Kayaks can be rented from this guy, prices here.
WE HAVE TO BOOK THE CANOES/KAYAKS IN ADVANCE
He will pick up all canoes/kayaks in Gnesta for 500sek /75 usd,
renting guys split that among them .

    Fishing licence
From us you can buy your fishing licence for the canoe passage Åkers Styckebruk- Gnesta

Day 1 looks like 5.4 km paddle to Camp 1.

    Camp 1 59°12'27.31"N 17° 8'58.50"e
Since the clock is ticking and it will be fairly late when everybody are in their boats,
i think we should aim for a shelter only a short distance away ?

Akers Styckebruk - Gnesta - Vagnhärad
Length: To Gnesta 27 km - to Vagnhärad 44 km.
    Maps: 10 H, W, 10 H, SO, H 9 NO.
    Stretching: Visnaren-Marviken lakes-Klämmingen-Frösjön-Sigtunaån-herring-Trosaån.

One of the most scenic canoe trails in Södermanland begins at Lake Visnaren. Paddle water continues in the long, narrow Marviken lakes, where there is a motorboat ban. In connection with these lakes meander Sörmlandsleden. Canoe adventure continues in the lake Klämmingen, a long narrow lake in the beautiful varied countryside.

The canoe trail continues in Frösjön and then you are almost there in Gnesta. Here you can finish your paddle and row. take the commuter train to Södertälje - Stockholm. Have you ever considered yourself a longer trip, you continue your canoe trip through Sigtunaån to the lake herring, which at the southeastern end succeeded by Trosaån. The river that runs through Vagnhärad to Thong is the completion of your canoe adventure.

Along the trail there are fixed hearths, dry toilets and trash cans prepared.

It is an easy to paddle tour where you in the spring has a little waterfall in Sigtunaån and Trosaån. Contains 5 pieces facilitate land transport - which at 300 m

Regarding our pace, It is as Joz says,
Canoes /Kayaks will beat us in Alpackas anyday !
Our mantra is NO HEADWIND, NO HEADWIND

Since there seems to be 5 short land transport, one or two Canoe Carriage thingys might be needed ?
Alpackas will excel here for ones

It is very comlpicated and hard to plan !
I do it very scientific, like this !
    1. I deiced where Camp 1 should be.
    2. I decide where Camp 3 should be.
    3. And voila, i place Camp 2 in the middle.

Day 2 looks like 7.3 km paddle in sunshine.

    Camp 2 59° 9'19.06"N 17°13'6.64"e
Camp 2 is placed on an half island to get away from the famous Åker Styckebruk wolfs (read other threads about wolfs, like SKAHOw 2011 or Packrafting in the Swedish Archipelago )

Day 3 is a 9.1 km long paddle in mostly rain

    Camp 3 59° 5'27.33"N 17°18'21.43"e
Camp 3 is moved to get away from the famous Gnesta wolfs. No i don't have a wolf paranoia , wolf are very common around here

Day 4 is only a short 5.6 km stint to Gnesta.

    Gnesta
We arrive here at 13.30 on 25 July

Give or take 3-4 min !

From Gnesta we take a train to Stockolm.

    14.29 Departure
    15.33 Arrival
    1 = 1 transfer
    1:04 = 1h 4min
    72 = 72 Buckaros

They seam to go almost every hour and takesabout an hour.
    Price = around 15 Usd

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
I forgott about the potentially Hikers, Sorry !

There is a trail not far from the water !
Here is a crappy map to start with, more to come !

Contact me for slightly better maps.

I am definitely interested in this hang but as Frikk I need to know when I get my vacation and that is not set yet.

I also need to get time off from my family and that can be more difficult.

I would really love to be there since I´ve never missed a SKAHO yet!

As you see I have changed my username from Bieggolmai to Stavros.
Since I have failed so many times as a weathergod I sacked myself!
Stavors has been my nickname since I was about 18yrs old so that username will probably stick for a while.

    Stavors f.k.a Bieggolmai!
