What is the latest in UQ design?

I just completed my first DIY hammock and tarp (pics coming soon), and I'm ready to start my underquilt. I've read many threads on DIY UQs, but I'm wondering what the "latest" is in design evolution for nylon down filled UQs. I'm thinking I'll go full length (I figure I can always vent if needed) and 3 season, sort of like the 3 season Incubator. I've seen parallelograms, darts, tapers, triangle thingies, end channel draw cords, etc. What works best for you?

I think the darts and pleats of the Incubator really make it an excellent product.

I ordered a "kit" from Adam last year. Came with all the parts but no instructions...I've just not had time to put it together. So if do one along those lines, I look forward to seeing photos!

The following are my opinions only - not to be confused with facts ....

First of all, darts & pleats -
The Good: I think they enhance the quilt but in a fairly minor way.
The Bad: They add quite a bit of complexity to the DIY amateur.
The Ugly: That's what my pleats would look like, hence they aren't worth it for me.

    Second, parallelograms/rectangles etc. -
I started hammocking with a WBBB which is a directional hammock.
So, I made my first few quilts in the shape of a parallelogram for efficiency.
I have since realized that I like symmetrical hammocks (so this side-sleeper can toss & turn more freely)
Now I wish I had made my under quilts rectangular. My future ones will be.

    Hope this helps.

BTW: I'm going with 7D fabric and 900 FP down from now on in all quilts. Making a top quilt now and love it!

Good tips - thanks Mad. Mine is a BB clone, so it is directional too. I could go parallelogram, but would probably rather do a rectangle for simplicity - I just hope it won't come off my feet...

Just curious - where you go for your 7D fabric and 900 FP down?
