iron on hem tape and nylon?

ok so im about to make a quick gathered end hammock, but because im a bit lazy and i cant be bothered pulling out the thread injector just to hem up some seams that dont take weight, i thought i would use hemming tape. Then i had a thought, ripstop nylon is often cut with a soldering iron (i intend to do this for the ends, just not the sides) and so i was thinking, will it actually hold up to ironing? has anyone done this? or should i just suck it up and go see if the thread injector still works?

too late, done it. It works, but i feel i would have been happier with the result had i run a stitch up the length instead, however i think thats just because i take more time to make it look right when i stitch, where i think i just wanted to get it done this time

    Straight lines are over-rated anyway!
