It seems that the tarps are the main Cuben expense. Most other cuben gear is relatively affordable alongside other gear.

    Cuben

I have a variety of Lawson Equip drybags (roll-top style). I use a large one as a pack liner, slightly smaller one for food bag and another as a ditty bag. I also use one or two of them for kayaking - so far so good.

Would like to eventually replace the Spinn tarps with a Cuben version. But until they are worn out or damaged beyond repair it's what I'll be packing. A cheaper and healthier weight reduction would be to drop the kg of body fat I've added. Too many brews & chips consumed this summer.

I'm with you on the extra pounds gained over the summer. That's my biggest weight concern right now.

    My current cuben gear list:

Tarp - Hyperlite Mountain Gear Cuben Hammock Tarp 11x8 stored in HH snakeskins

TQ Sack - Zpack Cuben Stuff medium (lt green)
UQ Sack - Zpack Cuben Stuff medium (lt green)
Food Bag - Zpack Cuben Stuff Sack large (lt green)
Ditty Bag - Zpack Cuben Stuff Sack small (lt blue)
Rain Gear Bag - Zpack Cuben Stuff Sack small (lt green)
Pack Cover large- Zpack Cuben (lt green)

No plans to buy anymore cuben at this time.

Wonder if ZPack will offer a tarp in black cuben?
Might help with improving shade under a cuben tarp.

Very nice OutandBack. The black cuben from Zpack is the heaviest they have I think. I bet it would make for an awesome smaller sized tarp.

One suggestion perhaps, for your two quilts, what I use is the large size roll top bag from zpacks. My yeti and mamba stuff in perfectly together and you can really smash them down with the roll top.

Aah! My large food bag is the heavy stuff. That's a bit too thick for my liking.

I tried the 1 large cuben (got a blue one just not in the pict) for the quilts.
It was too large to fit in the Aarn pack.
The two mediums worked better for me. Stacked side by side they fit perfectly I then poke the tarp (U shaped) in the cracks the two bags make.

    thanks for the idea.

Something else about those light green cuben sacks, I decided to test one's strength one day by holding it open with one hand and punching the bottom of it repeatedly with the other. I was beatin the crap out of it and never came close to ripping or unthreading anything.
You can grab it and do your best to tear it and it doesn't budge.

That's the lightweight stuff, so you know the heavy stuff is pretty much bomb proof.
