    Suggestions on which one

I'm 5'11" 230-245. I also have big wide shoulders and big legs from lifting weights for a long time. I going to order a Blackbird Hammock but not sure if I should go with the 1.7 dbl or the 1.1 dbl. Difference in the weight is not that much so I'm looking at comfort for my build. Suggestons or comments?

It appears that you will be able to lay flattest in the 1.7 DL. Good luck.

At 6'1" and used to be 220, I liked the 1.7 dbl. Now that I am below 210, I am eying the wife's 1.1 dbl. At least I will be once it arrives.

If you backpack go with the 1.1dbl. It'll be fine. If you car camp, go with either one. The 1.1 fabric has a better "hand". Soft and smooth.

I'm not by far your size or weight, but I own the WBBB 1.7 dbl and 1.0 dbl. Both are supremely comfortable, but I find that the 1.7 has a slight edge over the 1.0 (and I imagine that this is similar for the 1.1 dbl).

My recommendation would be: if you plan to take the hammock for backpacking, cycling or for anything were weight and volume are an issue, take the 1.1. In the end, even 250g will make a difference as I found out (which is why I bought the 1.0 for travelling). If you use it primarily at home or for car camping, go for the 1.7.

BTW, I slept in my 1.0 dbl for 6 months, and found it VERY comfy. It's just that the 1.7 feels a bit more roomy and gives a bit more support. Others might like the softness of the thinner material - it's also a matter of taste. If I could only keep one hammock, I would go with the 1.0 due to weight. But luckily I don't have to choose

I should have added this. I only use it for backpacking. I'm not a ultra light packer though. With my double ENO I was about 30lbs for 2 day trip with food and water. Which is very comfortable carry for me. One of my biggest concerns is How does the 1.1 dble compare to a ENO as far as stretch? Right now I'm down to 245 and will hopefully be back to packing weight of at least 235. It very hard for me to stay below 230 so prolly want happen. Thanks for te help guys. Which ever one I choose I'm going to do a detail review for my size with the hammock.

    I have both a 1.7 double and a 1.0 double. I am 5'9 and weigh 190.

I find that I am much more comfortable in my 1.7 double.

While it is true that the 1.0 and 1.1 are noticeably softer, there is just something about the 1.7 that draws me to it every time.

I am not overly concerned with weight either. I only do weekend hikes, and comfort is key for me. If I were to do a long distance hike, the lesser weight of the 1.0 would be my go to hammock.

I am thankful I have the ability to carry 30+ pounds.

    Just my opinion. HYOH

thanks! I'm like you, only do weekend to maybe 2 or 3 nights. But we don't try to do 100 miles either. 8-10 a day max for us depending.

I'm about 240lbs, and I love my 1.7DL BB. I was in the exact same boat as you and went with the 1.7 because I value comfort over pack weight. Also, I didn't want to have to weigh the items I take into the hammock with me when I alone was already near the max recomended load for the 1.1.

From what I've read in my research, you will find that the 1.1 will hold you fine, but it will stretch a bit more. On the other hand, it will also feel a bit softer, but this might not matter if you will be flully clothed or in a bag or quilt while you sleep.

The 1.7 will feel a bit coarser, but it will also give you a much flatter lay due to less sag. If comfort is king for you, go 1.7. If you value shaving your pack weight more, go 1.1. You will sleep well in either.

I also own an ENO singlenest, which I assume is the same fabric as the double? The 1.7 DL BB definitely sags less than my ENO, but I can't speak for the 1.1 BB.

And whither then? I cannot say."

Thanks St1der. Sound like we are bout the same. From all the research and you guys I've pretty much decided to get the dbl 1.7. Its not alot more than what I was carrying. I have room to shave weight else where to make up for the extra ounces. Thanks guys.
