I'm looking at taking a new job and moving to Las Vegas this winter. Although I've been to the city before and realize it's desert I'm curious to know how well hammock backpacking conditions are in that general area.

Never hiked the area before, but I bet there are some great trails up around Hoover and Lake Mead.
Trust nobody!
That area around the lake is barren and dessert. You have to go North on 95 and into Mount Charleston to get into any area with trees for hanging.
