If you live in Thailand, and want a great hammock, and do some good also
check out Thai Tribal Crafts Fair Trade. They have been around for over 30 years, and have brought real improvements to impoverished hilltribes in North Thailand.
They are non-profit and approved by the very severe standards of the international fair trade organization.
They make some really great "Mexican" style hammocks, amongst them some that are not available anywhere else. Also those hammocks come in many different colour designs a "first" for this kind of hammocks. What they do is much more advanced than what usually comes out of Mexico.
Amongst others they have a large selection of coarse cotton hammocks, including a Sitting Hammock that is real comfy even if a nap is on your programm. What makes them different from the Mex. stuff, is that they come in all colours and large range of colour creations, and the colours don't run when wet, although they fade a bit in sunlight.
If you are in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai or Mae Sot/ Thailand just go on over to your local Fair Trade shop to find them. Nice people too.
If you search a bit you will also find them on the internet.
They also have one other gimmick that nobody else has Acrylic Yarn
This stuff is only made in Thailand, and feels better than cotton, yet it's as resistant as Nylon string.
Pay a bit more than in Mex, but worth every penny
