Talking A little fun in the yard last night

My son and I decided the poor hammocks had been hemmed up in their bags for way to long. So we went out to the corner of the yard and hooked up some fun.

Next up for us is to add a little warmth to the bottom side of our hammocks, this will definitely be a DIY job.

Yes he certainly is a boy!

I even got the wife to give it a try

Man that 's a NICE back yard!
You could land a plane in your back yard.
Great set up with the three trees too.

    Timberr,

We love the yard it's about 3 acres with corn on one side and soya beans on two others this year. We have just reclaimed that corner from all the junk and weeds and that is our first use for Hammocks.

We are new to the whole hammock thing but sure do enjoy it. We love our Hennessy's what a great way to hang! I am waiting for some Rappel rings in the mail today and we will modify the suspension just a bit after they arrive.

We love the hex tarps what a great option from Hennessy. I know many people survive with the smaller diamond tarps but here in the midwest I don't have a lot of trees or cover often when camping and the bigger tarp really helps a bunch.

We have only slept in them a few nights and still have a ton to learn but we are enjoying them greatly.

Does anybody else struggle getting the hang right. I seem to fight with it every time even though it does seem to be getting easier. I am using slap straps pro's in lue of the stock tree huggers. The trees I have most often are large and the stock straps didn't even go around some of them once. Often I find the trees are way far apart and that effects hang angles but I do compensate that with a higher hang as possible.

    Question Any good parks

    Huauqui,
If you know...I realize it's a big state! Is there a great overnight/local trip anywhere near (maybe within an hour drive) from Grand Isle? I'm coming out for a work gig end of this month and maybe able to stay over an extra day or 2. Thanks!

Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

    LesterV,
What kind of trip you looking for? If you are looking for an overnighter in the Hammock at a State Park I am sure we can hook you up with that. If you want a trail to walk I will have to do more research. There may be a few local known trails close to GI I just don't know them.

GI (Grand Island) is right on the edge of the platt river which is a shallow sand bottom river best known for the crane migrations in the fall which you may hit. It is on the eastern edge of the sand hills and has a beauty one must look for at times but it is there. There are any number of nice camps but few really close that the RV's haven't just about ruined for us camper types. I can think of a couple within an hour and a half of there that might be nice.

Let me know what you are looking for and give me an idea of when and I will see if I can hook ya up.

We used to go cross-country skiing on the Platt during the winter when I lived in Omaha. Great fun...
