    Full time indoor bed replacement.

Been a while since I've sorted through here but last time y'all were VERY helpful and I appreciate that :-)

I've now been sleeping full time in a hammock for about 6 months, an ENO Doublenest and I love it. I have more spring in my step in the morning, I have less back pain and all in all I feel like my quality of sleep is SO much better. I do love the doublenest and think it is quite comfortable, but have considered trying another type of material against my skin. Perhaps a cotton, or some other "Soft" material that would do a little better with these high humidity nights we've been having lately.

Considering I have effectively replaced my bed, buying a new hammock is hundreds of dollars cheaper than buying a new mattress and so I am going to try to be open about prices, I'll try to keep my college student "stinginess" to a minimum. Quality can be expensive. Still, a target would be 160 or less but don't let that detour you. My current eye bolt spacing is 9'3" apart and 4'5" high, though I may be able to improvise a new setup should I need the space, and I prefer gathered ends but it's been a while since I've given a good spreader bar style a fair chance since I've really gotten into hammocking.

    Suggestions? Thanks in advance :-)

Check out this site . All of them are longer than your hooks are apart, but the stands are not that expensive. I use one in my back yard, and the wife is always napping in it in the shade, it seems.

Welcome to the fulltimers, Magnus. Been in my hammock now for around 3 months and loving every night. Here are a couple of pics of my DIY stand. the last pic has a temporary ridgeline which I don't use.

I have seriously condered a Fatboy Headdemock as a fulltime hammock. Howerver, the wife, fiance', girlfriend (whatever she is this week) doesn't like the idea at all.

It is expensive, at least as much as a new mattress. But, for a fulltime solution I personally feel it would be worth it and so much easier to move if the time ever comes.

Find them on Amazon for $399

i sure would like to see a underquilt for that Fatboy. That would be great for the gurest bedroom.

+1 on the HAMACA.... I have been wanting to get a Mayan Hammock for some time now...but I want to DIY....

A cheaper solution is to DIY...however I would not get cotton if the humidity is your problem....

I just made a nylon Supplex hammock for a friend and did not particularly like the material, it is supposed to feel like cotton against the skin....however I did not spend the night in it, just tested it out... It was pretty heavy material and felt like it would get clammy...but again I only spent 10 min. in it

I thought the ENO's were supposed to be some of the softest hammocks around

Silk might be another option....but I have found that silk fabric comes in narrow widths...54"...YMMV

I've slept in a doublenest for going on a year now, but in Canada, we don't have much of a humidity problem.
Ask Cannibal about indoor hammocks, he was a wealth of information for me when I decided the bed had to go.
