In the cycling world, this is call up-grade-itis. There is always something to tweak.

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

    done buying supplies

Well I"ve pretty much tried to make all of mine but I'm still buying supplies and always seem to need more. And now after all this the wife just asked me about "that down quilt" I was talking about making. SOmething tells me she doesn't realize it was for the hammock and not our bed.

Looking forward to that phase, may take me a while tho. Just getting back into hiking/camping etc after a 10 yr hiatus, means I have to purchase all my gear over again. Thankfully, I have a decent sleep system now, thanks to this great forum.

So far, in 2011 I've only bought 3 pieces of gear; a cuben MacCat Deluxe, a JRB BMBH, and a WB Traveler. There is a distinct chance I'm forgetting something. In fairness, the WB was a gift so it wasn't really an additional one in the closet. Three pieces of gear in 8+ months is easily a new low record for me. I'm chalking it up to so many new vendors that I got lost in the forest.

I've found and rediscovered some other hobbies and places to spend my money this year. Took up distilling, am learning the craft of knife building, and have gotten way too deep back into firearms and the associated training. One of these days, I swear I'm going to find a cheap hobby.

I might be done if I could stay off of the computer and not see all the new shiny stuff.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

I remember thinking to myself "Great! Hammock, Sleeping Bag, Backpack! I'm all done!"

And then TQs and UQs presented themselves, lighter hammocks and backpacks, etc. etc. etc.

Now I view it as being "Almost done with my gear specifcally for my thru-hike with the option of last minute change outs when and if something new comes out light enough or multipurpose enough to merrit a slight price increase."

And then there's all the stuff I want for after I get home. A WBBB, a ULA pack, maybe a cuben day pack, etc.

    I stopped saying "i'm done".
Said it after getting my current headphone audio setup and after getting a DSLR with some kit gear. It just doesnt work. Buying gear is addicitive, buying QUALITY gear is even more addicitive...

However i just started with hammocks, DD frontline inbound this week. I do foresee more expenses in this line if the first hangs go well.

Good luck to the OP. Just stay away from forums
