    Done buying

I'm finally done buying stuff, well, at least the big expensive things. I've been slowly putting together my hiking gear for the past 4 years. Almost all advice and suggestions coming from this forum, WB and PBF. My final purchase was going to be a cuben tarp, but I simply can't justify $300 to save ~10 oz. Especially when I it's so easy to drop a few pounds by simply dieting 2 weeks before I hike. Some of my gear isn't the lightest, the best, or the most sexy, but then again some is. Of course, I have a bunch of other misc stuff, this is just the big items. These work for me, and I'm happy to announce that I'm done buying stuff...well, at least until I can fit the Appalachian Trail into my schedule.

Thanks to all on these forums for all your freely provided suggestions, advice, and wisdom.

Is it possible to ever be 'done buying'? I'm not so sure.
It does sound like you've got a good kit.

I have ventured into the phase of "hey I think I could make that" and that cost money too! Being a gear head I dont think I will ever get through buying gear.

Heh, I've told myself that same thing several times...hope it works for you.

Actually, I've also found a "system" that works for me, for now. Nice when that happens. You can take your mind a little bit off the gear and spend more time (to quote Shug) "to just sit and stare a while." Glad you've reached your "Nirvana."

I ordered some tree straps a few days ago, and some zing-it today. That will have to hold me over.

My wife wishes I would say that too. I just found this place last fall and my bank account has not been the same since.

Nice gear list too. I chose the 1.0 WBBB. I really like it...
