Rain is bond to get you good sooner or later. For me it happen sooner. Just last week on my first time out. Luckily, I had decided to go with the Big Rain Fly instead of the Diamond Fly. With the Fly hung close to each tree above the stock webbing, they hardly got wet and the hammock stayed dry considering it rained steady all night. As for drip knots I saw the half hitch knot being under the fly working well to divert the flow. But as you say a few extra overhand knots couldn't hurt.
Keep your wick dry, and happy hangin...

I found 2 stainless steel key rings and put those on the fly loops at the top. Ive watched water run down line onto the rings onto my webbing down to the D rings where the water runs off the D rings not into the Hammock at all

If you really want to use the stock straps, get two short pieces of 3/4" polyester webbing with loops on the ends and put the new straps through the channels on the hammock, clip the loops together with the caribiner, then run the stock webbing through the caribiner and out to the tree. The caribiner should serve as a break to stop water from migrating to the hammock. Of course, you're still going to wake up a couple of feet lower than you hung the hammock because the stock straps are nylon and so they stretch.
    hector you are brilliant.
I have been racking my brain about what to do and this is the best idea I have seen, thanks
