Would the zipper on these fleece sleeping bags worry you if you used it as a top quilt? I am a bit worried that somehow it will catch and rip the hammock.

Unless it has real sharp edges, (most have cheap plastic zippers) I wouldn't worry about it...

I bought a fleece SB once, the fleece was so thin you could see through it. The fleece blanket "kits" they have at Joann's was 10x thicker, though the $10 WM blanket sounds AWESOME.

I made a cheap TQ out of my fleece SB, some ripstop from diygearsupply and some insul-brite and batting I had laying about. It's not very compressible, but it's plenty warm, below 50-degrees even... I was thinking I'd make another like this with Ripstop/Insultex/fleece. The fleece really makes it warm...

I'm not fond of fleece as an "outside" layer for sleeping and I'm a warm sleeper. I find it too susceptible to drafts/breezes/wind...

Great if you have something to stop the air movement. And while warm, not as warm as other things for the same bulk since it doesn't really compress very much. Weight for warmth is pretty reasonable though.
