Does anyone know where I can get a decent double hammock I could use for myself and my 4 year old son?
I saw one somewhere, but cannot find the link. I checked all the manufacturers linked from this form, and didn't find it. Thanks.

You can get a Ticket To the Moon for 44.95 plus shipping. Here's the thread.

Hammock Bliss also sells one. I've got it, and like it. I think that they're made in the same factory as TTTM. They're available through Campmor and others.

ENO (Eagles Nest Outfitters) also carried a double. Hope you can find one you like. I've been very satisfied with this one.
Some folks hang two hammocks side-by-side. I think Hogn8r talked about doing that when he camped out with his kid and used a strut system to get a little separation between the hammocks. A tarp for double hanging when you use two separate hammocks is another issue.

I tried the strut system and didn't have any luck. I also can double hang (over/under) on my hammock stand, but would prefer a double. I am afraid my son will get up and take off in the middle of the night.
Then-again I will have to get a larger UQ, which means spending more money.

several women have reported on these venues of trying to double up in a hammock designed for two, but stated that it went poorly.
The heavier person controls the sag and the smaller person falls into the cracks,so to speak.
Side by side isn't going to happen apparently.

That's what I was afraid of. It is costing too much money for me too keep buying this stuff anyways. If I could find a good way to rig the hammocks so I could use a single tarp it would be good.
I have tried over/under, side-by-side, side-by-side with spreader bars, and other ideas, but none seem to work very well. I will try the spreader bar idea again and see how it goes.

Last year my son and I (he was 5 at the time) went on a camping trip with our hammocks. He decided after laying in his for about 10 minutes that he was scared and wanted to sleep in mine with me. We both have ENO DoubleNest hammocks, so I thought it would be ok. He brought his sleeping bag and pillow over and went right to sleep. I, on the other hand, slept off and on all night long as he rolled all over me. I think I equated the experience in my trip report to something akin to trying to take a nap in your dryer. Just Jeff uses one hammock for him and another for his son, hung side by side so that both are just lightly touching each other. That may be an option for you to consider. Either way, I hope it works out for you.
That's the way that I hang my daughter's hammock. Usually we can find the right combo of trees for this to work. I used a 9x9 tarp last time with decent coverage.Just Jeff uses one hammock for him and another for his son, hung side by side so that both are just lightly touching each other
