    Sleep Paralysis

Curious if this has been an issue for anyone sleeping on their back in a hammock?

    From WebMD:

"Have you ever felt like you were awake but unable to move? You might have even felt afraid but could not call for help? This condition is called sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis may leave you feeling frightened, especially if you also see or hear things that aren't really there.

Sleep paralysis is a feeling of being conscious but unable to move. It occurs when a person passes between stages of wakefulness and sleep. During these transitions, you may be unable to move or speak for a few seconds up to a few minutes. Some people may also feel pressure or a sense of choking.

...factors that may be linked to sleep paralysis include sleeping on the back..."

Wow, interesting topic. I use to get sleep paralysis very frequently for a year or two periods of my life. I haven't had it more than a few times in the last few years, but I could imagines experiencing it in a hammock in the woods would be terrifying.

I've never heard of it, nor have I thought others experienced it. But I have been through it myself, not realizing it was a "condition" or something! Wow.

Not in a hammock though. But anything's possible.

Happens to me on occasion. It's weird and during it I feel like I'm struggling to move but can't. Lasts about 5 minutes until I can get my body to cooperate (usually by turning my head)

Happened twice while in a hammock. July 2009 and Jan 2011. Mostly happens when I'm at home.

Only happened to me when I was put on Wellbutrin to quit smoking a few years back... was scary enough to get me to go cold turkey when i finally did. Not in a hammock though. If it happened in the woods I would probably just assume it was the mystical powers of Sasquatch

Never had these particular symptoms but ever since going fulltime I just can't seem to get up in the morning. Sometimes it's almost 9:00, I was thinking it was just me and my hammock! Hope this isn't serious or contagious, my wife is wanting to try sleeping in a hammock now, and I don't want her sick also.

It happened a lot when I was a kid, then again when when I was 18 I had it once so I studied a bunch about it along with other silly things like astral projection. It started happening every, to every other night, I think because I was thinking about it so much. it was creepy.

Not to make light of any serious medical isse, but that's the sort of feeling I get every time I sleep in my hammock. I thought that was the goal
