    Paracord For Tarp Ridgeline

I know using paracord is kinda frowned upon here but would it be ok to use it for my tarp ridgeline? I ordered a mamajamba tarp with my blackbird I havent set it up yet because I have been looking at different options for my ridgeline. I have a spool of paracord that I could use if it would work.

Paracord is a viable option for any lines not involving the Hammock itself. Tarp lines, bear bag lines, clothing/utility lines all goo uses for paracord. But a few 50ft sections can start to weight you down if your backpacking.

Give it a try. Cheap material cost and worth the experience setting it up. I made a setup based off the SRL setup from whoopieslings. Works great!

I used paracord before I discovered the fancy stuff. As long as you know how how to work with it, no worries IMO. Might as well use what you got.

As an aside I like having a paracord bracelet in the woods because in a pinch or even an emergency, I have 8 strands of 10 foot cordage to use for various needs.

i use zing it on my tarps RL, and im thinking when i have the spare $ im going to get a 100ft roll of it from warbonete and redo the other guy lines. i like that stuff...thin, light & slippery. and i know i can get a good tight hang with it, and it not absorb water like para will. as a whole, $20 for 100ft is just fine in my book and it weighs so little.

i would get Zing it... you can get zing it cheap off Dutch
Paracord works like everyone said but it does get heavy when wet and can stretch ... so buyer beware as they say
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

For the last 18 years, i've been working for my uncle...Uncle Sam and let me tell you there aren't many things I haven't used paracord for. The stuff is great and will serve you well. The name 550 cord comes from its tensile strength of 550 lbs of straight line pull to break it. The weakest link in paracord will be the knots used to tie it. Learn good strong knots that won't capize under pull and you'll be pleased with it. The best knot to use is the one you can tie and untie with your eyes closed and can be easily untied. Good luck and enjoy your hangs.
