    Finally found the real deal

I'm new to the hammock community, sort of. I slept in a cheap, crappy, net hammock for 2 years in Panama. This was like 30 years ago and we new of nothing better and I really don't there was. I used an army poncho for a tarp, strung with communication wire. Even though it was terribly hot and rained most every day there, at night, I would roll up in an insulated blanket, head to toe, and squeeze into my tiny hammock to keep the mosquitoes off. It was primitive, but effective. My cheap hammock was better than the alternative of sleeping in the mud. I appreciated and valued that cheap hammock. I had known that technical hammocks existed but had no clue how they had evolved. Hennessey was the only one I had ever heard of, so boy was I surprised to see everything that's available. Over the years, I have sought to lighten my load with more ultra lite forms of camping and hiking gear. I'm also all about making my outdoor experience more enjoyable. One way is to lighten the load and keep exercising. Unbeknownst to me, a buddy surprised me with the news he was going hammock., as that point, I started researching everything I could find. Didn't take long to stumble onto the forum and with all the links and youtube, I had a treasure trove of years of experience, opinions, and developement at my finger tips. At this point I'm still assembling my set up and I as yet, haven't spent a night in my new hammock. We're still running in the 110's here in AZ, but the end is coming. Soon I'll be off to the mountains for fall fishing, with my new gear like a kid at Christmas time. Anyway I feel blessed to have the resources the hammock community has provided and I'm quite certain, I'll never camp the same way again. I'll post when I make my 1st trip. Went with the Switchback 1.9 double and the MacCat Ultra for a start. Anyway, a big thanks to all. I still have a lot to learn

    Welcome Bearcat from Florida!

I think your gear selection is superb! I have the exact same setup now - a double 1.9 SB and the MacCat Ultra in Spinn.
The SB is the most comfortable hammock that I have tried. I also own a Blackbird (WBBB).

Welcome, Bearcat! I agree that you will enjoy your new rig. Next you can start to make some woopie slings and continuous loops. Then you can play around with various tarp rigging. And, of course, you'll start looking at those underquilts. Then there are the UL backpacks and various water filter systems, and, and......
