    Hang planning section: an idea

this may or may not be a good idea, but i have a neat idea that may help old and new alike:

why not have a folder for sections of the country?

north east, south east, (or combined, east coast), midwest, etc...

just thinking it may help people find hangs near them easier, especially new guys. i have no idea what half the initials are for some of these, and not all have the area/state clearly in the title.

a state by state could be cool, for the places that actually have them (ie: SC has 2, VA, NC etc...) and of course one for canadia

just a thought, might help some. might just be talking randomly....

Rev, that idea has been bounced around recently and I believe it was being looked into. Haven't heard anything lately. Tried searching for it, no luck yet, maybe someone else will recall the thread.

i know it would be a little work to make regional subforums, but i think it would pay off greatly when it comes to finding whats near you, instead of policing the titles of all the old ones. and my suggestion is also not to move the existing threads (unless its on a case by case basis, because that can be daunting) but to have them and start putting new threads there. instant organisation!

While we are on this subject of improving the planning section, I would really like to have a sticky put up at the top of the planning section that has some planning tools like google spreadsheet templates, a checklist for group hangs, etc.

I could probably create a new one on my own every time I organize a hang, but really I'm a techtard. I'm still amazed the computer lights up when you push the power button.

There is a calender http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/calendar.php but I'm not sure if this helps you at all.

Well yes the calendar is a big help and I'm a big fan of it. I wish everyone put it to use.

I was thinking more along the lines of spreadsheets for planning purposes. Attendee signups, that sort of thing.
