I've camped like that and sometimes used a plain old "tube-tent" and basic Coleman sleeping bag...even in winter. Canvas tennis shoes, blue jeans, lightweight jacket, several feet of snow, San Gorgonio Mountains......etc.

I've actually been thinking about going back to camping that way because it seems more and more like hammocking\backpacking is getting way too expensive and complicated.

I don't know, maybe its just me, but throwing a couple cans of "chili con carne" in a pack (talk about primative fire starting ) and heading out spur of the moment....................

Yeah, nothin like waking up in the morning, fighting back tears cause your feet and hands are frozen and hurt like...............

Then again, maybe I've just lost my mind!
