    Not hanging yet in Georgia

    Greetings...

New to hanging, in fact, I haven't hung yet but tent camped many times. I am a regular on the Florida Sportsman Fishing Forum but the new salt water fishing regulations have basically made off shore fishing a thing of the past. Anyway, it is time to get back to my roots of what got me into fishing in the first place which was float trips. Doing a lot more of that lately and recently changed from a 14' jon boat to a 16' Mad River Canoe. I have always wanted to venture out to other neck of the woods and do overnight trips. My son and I are planning several of these trips this fall and next spring. Before we set off on this next adventure, I googled hammock forums and ended up here to read up on the advice from the locals. Looks like a great place from what I have read with plenty of knowledge. Just wanted to jot down a note to say thank you and hi all. As we tell newbies in the FS forum, first round is on me.

Welcome to hf, float by day hang at night, sounds good. I have an under used canoe that should be wet a lot more often than it is.

Thanks all. Walked outside to spend some time with our dog Shadow, a black lab, and didnt know how nice and cool it was tonight, wow...

According to Amazon.com my son and I will be receiving our pro skeeter beater hammocks tomorrow. If this cool snap holds out, I may test mine out tomorrow night. Our first trip overnight is planned for the weekend of the 17th. It will be a one day trip started late and split into two with the addition of trying our luck at catfish in a deep pool near a great spot to camp. If I selected the wrong hammock I apologize in advance but didn't see anything really negative about the hammock and for a first time out didn't feel like I had over invested if things don't go as I hope. Also, this trip we will use a 12'x24 wallyworld tarp for a rain fly but in reality if a fly is needed for this trip it probably will be postponed

I used to do a lot of float trips in SW Missouri. I wish I would have been into hammocks then. Welcome to HF!
