    Zpacks fly

I'm considering this Zpacks fly with doors. Any comments?

I'd also want it to double as a pup tent with trekking poles for those times I can't set up a hammock.

That's an awesome tarp - I haven't made the jump to Cuben yet, but when I do, that one will be at the top of my list. And I, too, use my tarps as gotoground pup tents when I camp with the kids, who need to be right by me during the night. I pitch a GoLite ShangriLa2 bugnest underneath my superfly or bmj with doors and it works great. The Cuben seems to be about 18" shorter on the sides, but I think you could still make it work. Good luck.

    Any of the cuben tarps,

    zpacks
    hammockgear
    mountainlaureldesigns

are awesome. The weight savings is noticeable, and the coverage and protection is perfect.

I have the zpacks tarp, and have used it many times. Zpacks sews their seams and uses a light weight cuben. Hammockgear and Mountain Laurel Designs tapes, with very high bonding tape, their seams, and uses a stronger weight cuben material. While I am more than happy with my zpacks tarp, I'd prefer the bonding as it's stronger and doesn't require seam sealing before use.

I'm currently waiting on my zpacks hammock tarp, but having owned a few other products from Joe I can attest to his impeccable customer service and products.

-- edit: i'm sure for literally a few dollars, he can modify the tarp to more easily accommodate trekking poles
