Question What to use for tarp ridge line???

Hey everyone...I get to go on my first backpacking trip in 3 years (first week of Oct) and this will be the first time I've gotten to hang in the woods. I've hung in my back yard about a half dozen times but not overnight until my luxury lite sleeping bag mod is finished...I will be trying out the pod method so as to avoid an extra expense and weight of an UQ at this time. however, as I currently hang my tarp, I am simply using the tie outs on the corners. I was wondering what y'all use for a continuous tarp ridge line. I want a CRL for my tarp so that I can use prusik loops and easily adjust my tarp to be centered over my hammock. Let me know what you think is the best line to use for tarps... is it amsteel, paracord, etc. Thanks all. If this is a question that has already been answered would someone please steer me to the right thread?

I use Zing-it. Works well for me, YMMV.

If you want a continuous ridgeline with prusiks you may have trouble with the zing-it, just because the stuff is slick. If you choose zing-it make sure you used plenty of loops or try out a klemheist.

Zing it here. Others have used paracord with success as well.

thanks for the input everyone...I have just ordered a 50' hank of 650 paraline (lighter than 550 paracord) for $6.88 incluing shipping. It is a little bit "spongier" so the prusiks will hold well...I'm sure I will have to deal with some stretch until it gets used a few times but I had cost to consider so that's why I didn't order the zing it...I'll try to remember to let everyone know how it works.

You don't need a tarp ridgeline. Sil-nylon tarps work better without it.

    ridge line

I use zingit for the ridgeline with hardware from Dutch. Is it true a silnyon tarp works better without the one piece ridgeline....are you using the two piece instead. No problem with the line slipping as I put 4 loops instead of the normal three.

I am currently using 550 paracord. 50' is about 3.6oz. Biggest problem I have is that it is much more stretchy that I want to use. It is very hard to get a very tight pitch using paracord. Granted I was using it for a Tyvek 11'x9' tarp with storm-doors, so the weight on the line is a lot more than a Silnylon Hex tarp would be. Just used braided mason line for tie-outs, prussik knots to attach the tarp to the central ridge line.
