    Nice trip report Sass.

A mother bear with cubs is more predictable than a group camped under bear cables - good move.

Good report. Glad that you made it through the storms and didn't have to 'tomato.' I don't think I've ever heard of someone setting up camp under the bear cables! Not sure exactly what they might have been thinking. I saw a sow and her two cubs week before last up on Road Prong Trail towards the top. After shooing her cubs up a tree and watching me for a moment, she, too, went back to her digging and paid me no mind. As stated before, bears are perhaps more predictable and dependable than some people.

We thought about you guys, Sunday night, when the rains came in. Thankfully for all of us, no winds or lightening. But that is one heck of a long climb isnt it!!?
    Glad you survived.

We had just started setting up camp when the rain hit. I had only gotten my tarp up by the time we decided to just hike out. It was quite a hike but was completely worth it once we got to the bald!
