The next step in making the "not so stealth" hammock involves the placement of some ribbon for a finished looking edge.

Now that the ribbon is on the hammock it is time to whip the ends so I can attach the suspension (whoopie slings). I want to make sure this is as clean a look as possible but also make sure that it is easy to do and redo and so forth and such as. I went with a combination of the gathered end (like Knotty shows in his thread on how to make a gathered end hammock) and a whipped end hammock. This video shows how I do it.

As someone who needs visuals, these videos have been great! I'm trying to source some fabric locally so I can get started fiddling and maybe come out with something resembling a hammock, haha!

Thanks for the kind words! I am glad you are able to get something more than mild amusement out of the videos. I can't wait to see what you are able to come up with. I am sure you will surprise yourself with what you can do. The hardest part is getting started. I had to get myself all psyched up to get past the initial fear of 'I can't do this - and - This is gonna turn out looking like crap'

Make sure you post some pictures and maybe even video of your gear.

Right now I'm trying to keep my eyes peeled for fabric sales and cost-effective materials. I don't get out to do much hiking in the winter months, so it gives me something to do. I know if I hold out I'll luck into a sale, but in the meantime I've just been enjoying the forums, videos, and feedback here on HF.

I will definitely take pics whenever I buckle down and start creating. What's that saying - pictures or it didn't happen? Haha!

Make sure you sign up for the store newsletter and VIP customer cards for Joann's and Hancock's. You will be inundated with 40% and 50% coupons on a monthly basis. I got the material for the NSS hammock and stuff sack from Hancock Fabrics for 50% off because of the coupons.
