I do like the design of this http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/st...=stool&Ntk=All
it appears as though it would fold up into a flat system. I'm more apt to attempt a DIY of it using scrap tubing, but a very nice design.
Another great tut on a good DIY chair though is the tripod chair found here:

simple, effective, compact and I would assume lightweight.
hope this was of some use to someone

Thanks for all your help, advice and more!
Any chair like this (or stool really) is pretty unsuitable for any kind of backpacking.
I don't believe that was the intended audience of the OP and I certainly didn't buy them for that purpose ;P
I, personally, bought them for when I go car camping (which I often do in conjunction with rock climbing) for sitting around the fire drinking a beer, eating steak, and playing a guitar hehe

They're great for car camping and outdoor events and thats obviously what the OP posted them for.
Not for UL backpacking, although sure you can lug anything you're willing to hump to a campsite.
Plenty of lightweight packable folding seats out there. But then, that's where most hammocks excel (maybe not the steak eating part).
