    Killarney, La Cloche Silhouette Solo

Just got back yesterday. Did the trail in four days the first day was only an hour and a half in, so doesn't count much. One seven, and three eleven hour days pounded me into submission. I have the sore knees and blisters to prove it! Very difficult trail indeed. I would have prefered a lot more time but the place is very busy this time of year and I didn't book ahead, so had to take what was available.

Weather was terrific, sunny and warm every day.

Here's the kicker. It was my FIRST time using my hammock. Never slept in one before, and the folks here weren't lying. They were the best and most comfortable nights I ever spent in the woods!

DIY Hennesey clone, Three season Hammockgear Incubator and Burrow, and MacCat standard tarp. All fantastic gear, worked beautifully! You have a confirmed convert to the hangin' world now.

Anyhow, thanks to all the folks here who provide the excellent information and instruction to us noobs, that allows us to enter this wonderful hammock hobby. And thanks to the providers of the excellent gear on this forum.

Nuff said. I have video of the trip on my YouTube channel.

It's a great trail but you must be the man/insane to have done it in 3ish days.

Hats off to you and Supertramp for doing it in a short periods of time. That trail is on my to do list for sure but I'll likely plan to do it in a week. Nice work!! Its awesome that you took the plunge with the hammock.

Leaning very heavily towards the insane end of that meter!

Fourish actually. I would have definitely prefered to have seven or eight days to relax and enjoy the hike, and that was my plan when I drove up, but it was not possible as everything was booked solid when I got there. Only other option was turning around and driving five and a half hours back home, so I went ahead with it. I figured if I couldn't make the distance I could just go off the trail a ways and hang up for the night.

Did the trail back in 95 and I don't recall seeing anyone on it back then. Different times now. Have to book everything a year in advance. Algonquin is downright packed these days too.

Watched your videos SuperTramp, very cool. Only just found them today. Couldn't find much on the trail when I was thinking about it early this year.

Such a fantastic place. Knew it had to catch on sooner or later

That's why I treked out to Gros Morne in NF for my big solo this year. Saw 4 people in 7 days and that was only at night. Most remote I've been. If only camping was less fun, it wouldn't be so popular.

(I did paddle in Killarney this summer but that was a friend's choice. Still less crowded than downtown TO)

What a fantastic trip! It has been on the top end of the 'list' for some time now.
