Cause if she is using it for the suspension I can't help but if she is using it for the hammock suspension I can send her some mule tape for free and then its cheaper than using paracord.

I agree with all those who say that paracord is not nearly good enough. You want a strength-to-weight ratio somewhere in the 5-to-1 to 10-to-1 ratio range. Amsteel measures its strength taking into account reduction of effective strength due to splice/knot (which can easily reduce a rope's strength by 50% or more). Other manufacturers do not (that I know of).

Thus, with Amsteel, you can get away with a 5-to-1 ratio.

With 550 lb paracord, you and your gear would have to weigh only 55 lbs to be safe!

Some elements of the bridge expect support (much) that does not stretch with time and load. That's the principle engineering criteria for the bridge design.

Suggest you memorize www.reddenmarine.com, and go to a local boating supply store which will price-match (or meet you half-way). Call ahead, though. And don't be afraid to use larger, covered Dyneema / Amsteel / Spectra line, which will likely be in longer supply.

Just use heavier line to derate the strength for knots, if necessary. That is respected practice.

Thanks the price at Redden was very reasonable. The prices on other sites were much higher and I thank-you all for the response. I can be a real skin flint sometimes.

There are times to be cheap, but one of them is not when you are buying the suspension for your husband's hammock. Failure= possible injury.
