    Pakistan hammock (photo from 1977)

Thought y'all would enjoy this photo. Found while looking through old National Geographic magazines tonight. It's from the January 1977 issue in an article about the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan.

The caption reads (in part): After a day in the desert a powindah boy rocks his nephew under a quilt tent.

Whats the pack weight on that thing? It looks kind of bulky, no need for UQ, though.

Yep - and you can just pick up the spreader bar as you set up camp, and the hammock body is multi-use as an extra blanket for sitting around camp.

I guess that's what camels or elephants or horses are for. Gotta figure the tarptent that thing is under weighs a pretty pound or two as well...
