    Greetings All

    Hello everyone.
I live on the central Gulf coast of Fl. and want last weekend to have been the VERY LAST one I ever spend attempting to find a flat area to pitch my old tent.
I am not even newbie status as of yet in this Hammocking idea, so me and the "search" feature are becoming great friends!!
I want to purchase a hammock but there are too dang many choices!!
    Here's me 6'2"/280lb.
Now, I have been to the assorted manufactures from this site and see a hammock at each one for my size, but which one do you big guys have??
Or even you small lovebird couples??
I want to get one but would really rather there not be a learning curve when spending 200-300 bucks.
I'll be using it mainly in Fl. so ventilation and non-bug-worthiness are big factors.
Other than that, I guess warrrantee (sp) is the only other factor.
Thanks ahead of time and GREAT and INFORMATIVE site ya'll got here.
    Keith

    welcome to HF Keith.
like you said, so many choices & everybody has their preference. but what comes to mind for me is either a....

1)... Eagle's Nest Outfitter (ENO) or one of the others that seem to be from the same maker (ticket to the moon, etc).
the ENO offers a net that hangs around the whole hammock. or...

2)... a Speer hammock which comes w/ a net that attaches to the hammock by velcro, probably giving you a smaller, lighter package.
Speer also gives what i consider better choices in tarps also. ...tim

    Welcome to the forum.

You may also look at Hennessy Hammocks. They are pretty much ready to go right out of the box..er..stuff sack I mean. If you wanna save some cash look for used ones on Ebay.

Funny how we tend to recommend what we have. I like my Claytor a lot and they have a larger model that should fit someone like you:

Several people on this form have this one, and as far as I can tell, they haven't had anything bad to say about it.

I've made half a dozen now and temporarily settled on a double bottom hammock like Risk's Z-hammock.

I don't know if he's currently selling/making any, but I hear that Warbonnetguy has a pretty sweet setup that I'd like to take a look at sometime... I think his website is still under construction? (if that's the right site)

    Wow!
    Thanks for all the replys!
I'm leaning tward the Hennessy Safari Deluxe Asym.
Any plusses or minuses I should know abt?
I've found them from $199 to the $229 on the Hennessy site, which I think has free shipping.
I like the Jungle Hammock also, and it's a bit less $$, which I'm not worried abt a few $ if the item is worth the extra.
The closure on the Safari is unique, any + or - on that.
How flat can you actually sleep on one of these?
The guy in the lil movie on the site looks pretty flat AND COMFY!!
    Anyone have the Safari?
