    DIY Tarp pics needed

I am about to undertake another DIY project of a tarp.

I bought the WM Camo the other wek and ...ITS HEAVY in my pack, but still works fine enough. I think its 10x12 in size.

I recently recieved a 9x9 Tyvek cut out for my soon to be new Hex tarp.
(Thanks much Dukedante!!!) I will be doing the 3 foot cuts on the 2 corners opposite from one another for the "2 cut hex tarp." This is to serve my purposes non winter related.

Now I am about to get material from JoAnns since they just got in white and grey ripstop for a 4 season tarp. I have seen alot of pics of DIY tarps and they all look AMAZING. If I end up with half that quality I will be stoked. The only thing I have never seen or read about it the actually ridge line (or center) hemming job that will have to take place to put the 2 halves together. I would really like to see pics of the underside of the center of some of these DIY tarps so I can get a good grasp of what I need to do. I will most likely do a version of "Winters Dream" or "Superfly" type of design. Now I would love to be able to buy one of these tarps and not DIY it, but it come down to simply cost. I can afford the materials but not the manpower that goes along with a great made tarp.

I will be going on a hang next week or the week after so I am probably going to pick up materials sometime in the next couple days so I can get a start of the cutting injecting and waterproofing.

Any tips would be awesome as well.

    Thanks so much gang,

    Zippo

That's my tarp. It is only 9x5 but weighs close to nothing and packs nice and small. With the asym diamond off set it provides adequate coverage for me. What I did was just made a simple hem around the perimeter. On each corner I made a loop with polyester webbing and through that loop a I put some heavy shock/bungee cord. This keeps constant tension in the tarp and makes it nice and stable.

CZ that center seam is either a flat felled or french and is somewhere in the ramblinrev's stickyhttp://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=6802 Not sure just where but it won't hurt to go over the series again if you haven't yet. If I'm wrong hopefully the ramblinrev will chime in. And first thing wash the fabric to remove sizing and processing chemicals, learnt about that after the fact from my wife." Oh you didn't wash it did you?" It wasn't dirty. Not a good answer.

For the ridge line you would want to use a Flat-Felled Seam. There is a bunch of web pages showing how to make this seam as well as YouTube videos. Good luck.
