Talking Video: Fronkey and the Noobies "Part 1"

Fronkey hear and I made my return to the Superior Hiking Trail for a 5 day hike.

After a few months of planning a couple dudes from Florida flew up here to go on their first hiking trip. I had mailed them a couple hammocks awhile ago to get some practice in before they got up here, but it wasn't until we hit the trail did I find out that they never once set up their hammocks or exercised or prepared in anyway what so ever.

Fortunately I had fellow Hammockforums member ArcsandSparks with me to help out with these two guys.

We started out at Temperance River state park and hiked south to Section 13. Lost a couple member of our party and even saw a wolf. This is part 1 of our adventure on the good ole' SHT. Thanks for watching!

You'll have to sing a whole lot louder and perttier on the " Northern Hang " to wake up this hearing challenged boy.

I've never hiked anywhere near the Superior Hiking Trail. However, after looking at both your videos and Shug's videos, I see one thing that is different and inviting compared to all the places I hike. That difference is that you can eat like a king in camp - without getting eaten by bears! I would be dead if I did that... so jealous

That jacket kept me plenty warm.

I'm all for teaching people things and helping out, but they kind of made things a nightmare. Arcsandsparks can vouch for it too. One claimed to have broken his hand and the other one "twisted his ankle 3 times." and they both kept thinking we were lost. Arcs and I had a blast though!

We actually ran into a day hiker who said he saw a bear about 30 minutes prior to running into us. But, it is a huge perk that our bears are pretty rare because I sure do love to eat like a fat kid on the trail.

It surprisingly worked very well. I'm sure it's not as good as the real thing, but it did help to keep me warm on those windy nights that week.

We managed to talk them into hiking to the next campsite, so they only spent one night alone. Arcs and I even went into the campsite they were planning on camping in the 4th night and gathered fire wood for them to give them some help while we were at Section 13.
