    Arizonian Newcomer!!

Hey there folks, new guy here, otherwise known as theirishmancometh(or David for those of you old fashioned people who use real names lol ). Thought I would take a moment and introduce myself as I joined a few days ago but have been viewing the forums for a while now. I'm from Phoenix, AZ unfortunately and quite frankly it's too hot! I try to get out and away from the hot city as much as my schedule allows( never as often as I would like). I did get out this past weekend though with my dad to our favorite spot in the state, Christopher Creek,AZ. Beautiful place tucked up in the woods that has a nice short(and I do mean short-1 mile hike at the most) hike up an easy trail to great spot right near the creek to camp at. Great hike to test out new gear as if the gear doesn't work properly and things go south it's less than a 30 min walk back to the trailhead! I attached some photos of the trip(well mostly me in my hammock...this is a hammock forum after all lol!) Well, that's about it for now. I just wanted to officially introduce myself and say howdy to all my fellow hammockers. Till next time folks, happy hangin!

Yeahoo! Another AZ hanger! Welcome. You can come up to the cool country anytime. I'm always in need of hiking buddies. Great pics!

In AZ myself, hope to see you out there sometime. I do a bit of fishing up on the rim in the small creeks.

    Welcome

A big Welcome from Bama! I've only been to AZ a couple of times (unfortunately, no hanging') and I don't recall seeing too many trees. Seems like I saw a post about hanging from cacti.

Enjoy the forum! Love your campsite.

LOL, well...even if it were possible to hang from a cactus without it it falling on you and killing you very painfully(which I doubt) it is, if my memory serves me right, at least a 50,000 dollar federal fine and possible jail time if one is caught damaging a saguaro cactus and it is not a life or death situation. Now while sleeping on the ground might be a life or death situation for most of us here on hammockforums I doubt the Arizona Game & Fish dept. would see it the same way. There is however plenty of trees up in the forests once you get out of the desert. And it doesn't take too long to get to them either. It was only a 2/1/2 hour drive up to Christopher Creek from Phoenix where those pictures were taken at. And parts of AZ even get snow in the winter lol.
