    Hancocks Rip Stop ?

Not being sure of the weight of the ripstop at Hancocks. Do you think it safe enough to use a single layer for a gathered end hammock for someone who weighs 240 lb? It's not for me, so I sure don't want my buddy to hit the ground.

I'm 210lbs and haven't had any issues with using the Hancock ripstop in a single layer gathered end hammock. I've also laid in the back yard with my 2 year old and was never concerned about the fabric holding up.

The rip stop nylons I have bought from Hancock Fabrics was 1.9 oz and it held my heavy hanging butt with just one layer and no fallout.
Happy Trails to one and all.

They have some pretty heavy duty stuff there. I bought a remnant to try out my sewing machine when I first got it and that stuff is no joke.

I'm sleeping in a hammock of the Hancock's ripstop @ 225# and no problem what so ever. Not sure of the weight of the RS but they also carry a heavier nylon which could be good for 500+.
