Questions about changing up the stuff sack

I'll not waffles about, I want to remove the straps w/buckle from my stuff sack. I don't really ever use them, and they're kind of clunky. I also think I could re-purpose the strap and buckles elsewhere.

My question is whether anyone has done this without damaging the stuff sack?
I would also like to know if I'll have to resew the bottom of the stuff sack after taking this strap off.

Eventually I plan on removing the stuff sack and putting in on my RL as a ditty bag or similar. Anyone have any experience with that?

Both ideas will work. A seam ripper can be your friend, just be careful and make sure you are removing the correct stitches.

I did this with my doublenest. It was pretty easy. Once you get first thread cut just pull lightly and snip other threads as needed. Comes off clean.

The one I can't figure out to do cleanly is the bug net bag.

I did it as well. I didn't have a seam ripper so I just used one of my smaller knives and worked at the seams. No damage to the stuff sac and I use the strap elsewhere.
