    Those are great diagrams, especially the printable curves.

    To simplify this even more, you could make one that has all three sides being the same length. Then you could use the same curve on all the sides. I made mine that way, not a big deal, just saves a little time.

    Bump.

    With all the recent tarp making activity on the forum this thread could prove helpful. Wish I had seen/found it before starting the process.

    You shouldn't need to use a spreadsheet or waste paper to get a catenary curve. Just hang the side up by the edge you are going to mark and hang a string next to it. This will cover any length and allow for changes in fabric widths because of seam allowance, etc.

    wow..... ingenious. I'm just getting ready to cut my trial run this weekend, and I think I'm going to try the hang-rope method first!

    Gotta get the fold right before the cut... but you'd have to get that anyhow...

    I quite often make stuff just because I enjoy it. Saving money is cool, but doing it yourself is half the fun!

    Poly thread = $13
    Webbing = $13
    reinforment mat. = $6
    Total $100

    I can buy one from Warbonnet for $110.

    What are others doing? Maybe there is a better supplier for 1.1 oz silicon impregnated ripstop nylon that I have not found. Mine was based on Speers, and his prices are as good as I could find on the internet.
