I'd like to order a UQ from HammockGear, but when going to check-out, I get the following message.
"There is a problem with this website's security certificate."
What's up with that?? Adam?

I get the same thing... Well, actually, this is what I get:
This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.hammockgear.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

Their Server SSL Certificate expired yesterday, hence the error.
The connection is still SSL and secured (data wise/encryption). They have just not installed or renewed their certificate.
Thanks JJ,
What exactly is the certificate for?

An SSL Certificate is issued by a trusted source like "Verisign" etc... The website applies for a security certificate with verisign, verisign verifies the identity of the company the best they can and issues a certificate. This is just a software key that is loaded on the website. When you visit the website it grabs this certificate and verifies the signature (software again) on it. This tells your browser if its valid or invalid..
So being that the certificate is not valid still (expired) its unlikely anything shady is happening, just lazy web people on the back end. But there is always the possibility.
It expired.... Our website guys are renewing it tomorrow morning. THANK YOU - I was unaware it happened. Sorry about that. We're on it!

I can say that cause I'm one of those lazy web people most of the day, lol!
To the OP, I wouldn't be worried about the cert being expired, like I said it doesn't affect the transport security or the encryption, those are the same regardless.. with the website owner involved to say its expired I wouldn't hesitate to order, no worries for me.
