Thumbs up BWCA Trip in Aug

Hello all...I know their is a Trip section but i wasn't going to give FULL details of my Boundary Waters trip, i just wanted to show the Hennessy Fan's some pics of a few camp sites and my hangs.

I bought my HH (and my son's) for this trip earlier this year, so this was the first BIG hang other then just over night trips. We were up there for 7 days... 8 people, 4 of us were in Hammocks ... overall it was great!

Anyways here is a few pics that i took of our HH's (and some with some WBBB's as well). Nothing like being 2 feet from the water for 4 days... the other ones i was up higher as it was a small camp site (thank goodness for the hammocks otherwise we would have been tight for decent ground camping!) and was a steep climb from the landing up to the camp area.

I can't wait until my next trip! Enjoy !

Thanks for the great pics! Looks like you had a great time. I like you love the flexibility the hammock gives for choosing campsites.

    Great stuff

Which lakes did you camp on? Glad you missed the fire!

I'm always glad to see more hammocks in the BDub!

We went in the BWCA up on the Gunflint... on to Sea Gull lake. Spent the first night on Sea Gull. Next day we went over to Ogishkemuncie Lake and we spent 3 nights there. Then we turned back around and headed back and spent the last night on Alpine lake. Most of the time we were in the burn out area from the big fire back in 06' (i think).... it is amazing what fire can do to an area. As far as you can see it was all devastated (starting to grow back, but clearly not as good as places not touched by fire). One day we took a day trip up to Eddy lake and to Eddy's Falls... that was fun.

We also face some serious head winds the first 3 days. By day 1 we wanted to be on Ogishkemuncie... it was fun nonetheless.

The current fire is way West of we were... i know it's a part of nature, but it sure does a number on the system.

Hammocks and the BWCA sure go hand-in-hand.

They make site selection simpler, make it easier to fit shelters into odd spaces, and solve the problem of how to anchor a tent stake into (non-existant) soil.

Sounds like you had a fine trip!

That was taken from about half way up from the landing.... i took that shot because i wanted to show some friends the benefits of using a Hammock...the picture is kind of deceiving from that point of view for sure! The first picture is from the zipper side and still looks deceiving.

Thanks for the pics. Our Scout Troop will be doing a Boundary Waters trip next summer. They boys will be in tents, but I'll be taking my Hennessy. It sure does give one additional options for a campsite.
