L N, Before going to a hammock fulltime I slept with 2 or 3 pillows. Have now evolved to the point of not needing much at all. When on my back my hammock has this perfect fold that cradles my head. When I roll to my side, which is getting less often I do use a small neck pillow. I found an inflatable fleece covered one at WM in the travel section for about $4.50. It weighs in at 3.4 oz. I only inflate it half way.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

My jacket has worked as a pillow for a long while now. Especially nice in cool weather as the jacket will be warm when I put it on.

The only draw is spring rains. I usually only have my rain jacket and end up without a pillow or improvise in another way. No big deal to me.

I use a DIY pillow made with 1.1 ripstop and Climasheild HL because I have to have something under my head and I use a DIY because I am too cheap to buy a pillow when I have spare material from my uq projects.

I 3rd the vote for an Exped Air Pillow. At 2.8 ounces and 4 inches of height I will never use any other pillow for sleeping in a tent. I use it in my hammock because I already owned one before hand. If I didnt own one already I would just use my rain jacket stuffed into a my hammock bag since hammocks dont require much of a lift even for side sleepers.

I find no need for a pillow in the hammock.

If I were to use one, I would just stuff a fleece jacket inside of a T-shirt. Less added wieght that way.
