I just figured out how to solve a common Janome Sewist 500 problem : )

I like this little machine. I use it more than my Bernina these days. One problem, which I heard was common with the Sewist, was that when going full throttle, the whole machine vibrating and all, the stitch width dial, which I like to vary when using Zig Zag, would vibrate and head for the widest setting "5". It would not doing when set on 0 for a straight stitch, but I could not use the 3 setting without having to keep my right hand on the dial the entire time..
So I thought about taking the machine apart and tighten something....
Then, Sunday morning bright-ish light came on....just wedge a folded up piece of cardboard between the dial and the machine, and the problem is solved
