Got a wild hair and packed up my gear in the bike and took off. I fit most everything I needed in the saddlebags except a dry bag and another bag I'd made form Tyvek for the purpose of holding my hammock, UQ, TQ, Pillow and suspension all together in one place.
The temps only got down to about 58. I wish I'd not brought my Hammockgear TQ. I was a bit warm, feece would have been plenty. I had been doing a lot of baking lately at the house and after this trip decided I'll drop the trail baking due to it's fuel need. It will also allow me to drop my cook set by a few pieces.
I brought a small McCormick spice/led lantern I'd learned how to make here on the forum so my camp was very dark. I was laying in my hammock at about 9:00pm and a couple kids came running into my camp looking for abandoned firewood. I assume that without a car at the road, they thought it was vacant. My bike at the time was parked behind my hammock. They got about 10 feet from me and I said, HEY! I think one of them pissed himself. I didn't stop laughing for 15 minutes.
About an hour into my ride home, I heard an odd sound and saw that that Tyvek bag filled with about $600 worth of hammock hanging goodness had slipped out of it's binding and went flying down the road. I was so happy that there wasn't a car behind me. I locked it down, turned around and got it before a car came. Whew! Next time, I'll use more bungy straps!
