    Hangin' in Minnesnowta...

    Hi,
I've been stumbling thru hammocking for about 4-5 yrs and just recently found HF online. I've enjoyed getting up off the ground in the BWCAW and no longer awakening feeling more sore than when I went to SLEEP! I love the compactness of a hammock, which makes single portaging more achievable and comfortable.

I haven't tried hammocking on my winter camping trips yet, but I'm encouraged by all of the UQ info on this site. Do you think I can get my sled doggies to sleep in hammocks? Maybe I can trade trips with Shug and we can exchange experiences on his hiking and my canoeing interests?

Anyway, you all seem very civil and PASSIONATE about hangin' outside. As so often happens on these type of enthusiast forums, you share your knowledge freely and openly and appear to also be incredibly helpful..all while still able to poke some fun at each other on occasion. I'm going to enjoy visiting here and hopefully at some point be able to contribute to the knowledge base.

    Welcome! Lots to learn.

You may wish to consider attending the Winter Camping Symposium at YMCA Camp Miller (near Moose Lake) on October 23 and 24, 2011. Both our own HF members MacEntyre and Fourdog will be presenting hammock seminars...with Fourdogs focused on minus 30 degree hanging.

    Welcome to the site
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
