    Hammock Length - Claytor Jungle

The Claytor Jungle hammock seems to be a bit longer than my HH's. I am only 5'7" tall.

Hammocks tend to be more comfortable the longer they are. However, I am wondering if there is a limit on the length/comfort ratio.

Will the hammock be too long for me, and just a waste of extra weight? My expectation is that it will not, and will be very comfortable. Everyone I have spoken to claims this is an extremely comfortable hammock. Thanks.

I will say it is a loooooooooooonnnnnnnnnggggg hammock!
I have been kinda suprised at the length between trees I need.
But as you have said it is a very comfortable hammock. I am about 6"1' and I've been happy with mine the short time I've had it.

I'm just wondering if I would have been better off getting an Exped instead.

Dunno. From what I researched before I bought my first hammock it just seemed like the claytor gave me the best price/performance. I would have considered a Clark, maybe a HH but in light of the Patents post I am glad I stuck to Claytor. From reading about Tom he sounds like the kind of businessman I can support.

I also have to second that statement about giving support for products and practices that I agree with. Since getting interested in hammocks I have always found it extremely difficult to believe that no one else had ever installed a ridge line and that it was "new" technology or practice. After reading the excellent posts by YB and others I an convinced that my belief is and was well grounded in history and old patents. Thankyou YB for your excellent work and searches.

Take a look at the shorter Claytor Expedition hammock; that should get you the features you want and be plenty long for your size.

Claytors need to be a little longer than other hammocks because they're narrow.

I have the Claytor Mosquito model and I cant imagine it being very roomy for anyone over 5'10"
Im 5'6" and the mosquito model is great and should work for you at 5'7" if youre still in the market

I can't see the extra length being anything but a positive as far as comfort goes. It will of course result in a bit of extra weight, though that will be countered somewhat by the narrow cut.

From what I can gather, the Jungle is a bit heavier duty than the No Net and maybe the other Claytors. Plus the tarp is not sil-nylon. And most are, of course, double bottom. Those things will probably cause more weight increase than the extra length, but may also increase durability. I wish there was a model exactly like the JH but made with lighter materials.

I have a few Claytors as well as a DIY that is acturally 10.5 feet long. A Clator is 9 foot nine inches I think and you won't regret getting it. The difference is comfort and room inside, and the double bottom is the kicker. Mule
