Lurking newbie here with a quick question

Hi everyone, thanks for being such a great resource for people new to hammocking (like me).

I've recently gotten an ENO doublenest, and purchased 2 6' whoopie slings and 2 7' polyester tree straps from Arrowhead Equipment.

I am going to REI today to get a couple of light climbing carabiners to simply attach the whoopie directly to a marlin spike hitch in the webbing.

My question is at the other end of the strap (the tree end). If I'm running one end of the tree strap through the loop in the other end before tying the marlin spike hitch, do I need dutch clips or another set of carabiners to clip the strap to itself, or should I be done with hardware at this point?

To be honest, if I'm running the strap through its own loop, I'm not sure where I'd even attach clips or a carabiner.

I'd think running thru the loop is fine. The Dutch clips/'biners would just make it a bit faster to set up and make it a lot faster if you have to adjust over or under intervening branches.

You will be fine just running the strap through the loop.

Lots of us use the strap through the loop method without any issues. Dutch Clips are nice too.

I have the ENO double and you can fit both the whoopies and straps into the hammock bag (the sew on bag) if you do not add any additional hardware. I thread the straps through there own loops.
- Here a tip, get an old ski pole and cut a couple of 3" sections for marlin spikes. Cheap, light, and works great.
